292 - QUALE FUNZIONE HA LA SACRA SCRITTURA NELLA VITA DELLA CHIESA?

La Sacra Scrittura dona sostegno e vigore alla vita della Chiesa. È, per i suoi figli, saldezza della fede, cibo e sorgente di vita spirituale. È l'anima della teologia e della predicazione pastorale. Dice il Salmista: essa è «lampada per i miei passi, luce sul mio cammino» (Sal 119,105). La Chiesa esorta perciò alla frequente lettura della Sacra Scrittura, perché «l'ignoranza delle Scritture è ignoranza di Cristo» (san Girolamo).

Sacred Scripture gives support and vigor to the life of the Church. For the children of the Church, it is a confirmation of the faith, food for the soul and the fount of the spiritual life. Sacred Scripture is the soul of theology and of pastoral preaching. The Psalmist says that it is “a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). The Church, therefore, exhorts all to read Sacred Scripture frequently because “ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ” (Saint Jerome) (Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, n.24)

La Sagrada Escritura proporciona apoyo y vigor a la vida de la Iglesia. Para sus hijos, es firmeza de la fe, alimento y manantial de vida espiritual. Es el alma de la teología y de la predicación pastoral. Dice el Salmista: «lámpara es tu palabra para mis pasos, luz en mi sendero» (Sal 119, 105).
